Hope Warrior

Working with our Community

Our community programs and workshops provide a safe platform for sharing personal experiences of living with mental illness. These culturally designed events target a wide range of diverse groups to allow members to share their stories whilst also learning about other community members who have gone through similar experiences.

These events also provide an opportunity for our Community Support team, together with the participating group(s), to identify effective solutions that offer sustainable ways for community groups and individuals, to deal with health needs relating to mental well-being.

HopeWarrior

Hope Warrior is an insightful and impactful event for the brothers in our community. The event establishes a warm and caring space that gives the attendees a comfortable environment to share their deep battles regarding mental health.

It is an incredible night that strongly highlights the underlying struggles that our men are and have been facing, despite what is presented at the surface level.

Testimony from lived mental health struggles helps with education and awareness and fosters an inclusive environment where men can freely share.

YellowHope Walk

Our Yellow Hope Walk this year saw 450 people turning up to unite in hope and raise awareness about suicide.

We had a wonderful time hearing lived testimonies of those who have fought and won in their mental health battles, seeing our community band together, and walking and holding hope for those who can’t.

We look forward to holding this space every year and activating Hope wherever we go!

WinterBBQ

Our Annual Winter BBQ held on Thursday June 29th 2023 was a delightful day full of laughter and joy. In between playing games and eating delicious food, we enjoyed connecting with each other and getting some fresh air and sunshine.

We look forward to more moments of meaningful connection and engagement to come!

HerHope

Her Hope this year was another sold-out event that included women from in and around Southeast Queensland.  The vision for Her Hope is “to see empowered women inspiring women to take meaningful action in their lives”.

Our hope filled storytellers brought their stories of pain, suffering, mental and emotional struggle, which gifted each woman with how they were able to move forward in courage and hope.

Many small commitments to action were made, and many steps were taken on the road to Hope.

We love it when women gather in hope, to support women.

Community Love

What our community are saying about us.

At Blackbutterfly Group, we pride ourselves on our unique ability to connect people, foster hope-filled spaces, cultivate warrior strength and inspire people to make positive changes in their lives. We strongly value the connection and commitment we have to our wonderful community.

I'm proud to be with them. My support team is the best. They make me feel like I have a purpose again. I used to stay home a lot, but now my team have helped me get out of the house and do things I love!

Robert Mathies Brisbane, QLD

It was raw and emotional, and I empathise with anyone who goes through suicidal thoughts and who is still coming to terms with their pain. Pray that talking about it starts healing you.

Larissa Tanoai Ipswich, QLD

They've encouraged me to reach my goal of getting back to work. Gerhard and Joe have been a big support for me with my health goals and money management as well. The support has helped me heaps.

Aleon Ngatokorua Brisbane, QLD

It was my first time on Blackbutterfly Talanoa! So refreshing to see people come together for whatever reason they seek to improve their lives. Love your work Blackbutterfly - love to see it in our community!
